The four-story space, formerly home to Tabaq Bistro, debuted last month.*<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Steck is a 30-year veteran of the Washington restaurant industry, and worked alongside\u00a0<strong>Ann Cashion<\/strong>\u00a0at the original\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/food\/restaurantreviews\/100-very-best-restaurant-2016-jaleo\/\">Jaleo<\/a>, as well as Cashion\u2019s most recent venture,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/2009\/06\/22\/cheap-eats-2009-taqueria-nacional\/\">Taqueria Nacional<\/a>. Currently Steck also oversees the kitchen at Landry and Brogan\u2019s Mexican spot in Dupont Circle,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/2014\/03\/28\/5-things-to-look-for-at-mission-photos-and-menu\/\">Mission<\/a>. Her seasonal American menu at Hawthorne stars eight varieties of PEI mussels, all served with bread, garlic aioli, and duck fat fries ($20, or half-priced at weekday happy hour from 5 to 7).
