Christmas Again in Seattle Washington

 

Talk about a city bursting with holiday cheer! Noting all there is to do in Seattle, Washington for the holidays is an immense task, so let’s continue our journey through the substantial list of things to do in the city for Christmas time.

 

Wild Lights at Woodland Park Zoo

A fun event for the whole family that combines wildlife and Christmas at the zoo. Starting at 5:30pm nightly, the zoo lights up its grounds with thousands of colorful Christmas lights shaped as animals and festive ornaments. The zoo has indoor snowball fights in their Snowmazium where you can build snowmen and experience the snow, snow you don’t have to shovel! You can even meet Santa’s reindeer, a special addition during this time of year, meet two of Santa’s flight crew before they take off on December 24th. The Woodland Park Zoo provides entertainment and holiday cheer in their Wild Lights event which runs until January 1st.

Snowflake Lane

An enchanted evening for the family this event takes place in Lincoln Square in Bellevue Place, Bellevue. Snowflake lane transforms the streets of Lincoln Square into one bright and merry performance with carolers, toy drummer soldiers and dancers all there to embrace the holiday spirit. The Lane transforms into a snowy paradise every evening too, so you get the winter wonderland feel without the real chill of winter. This event runs until December 24th and then transforms into Celebration Lane in preparation for New Years.

The Nutcracker by Pacific Northwest Ballet

The beloved Nutcracker presented by Pacific Northwest Ballet is a brilliant and beautiful performance annually occurring at Seattle Center’s McCaw Hall. The set design and detailed scenery compliment the skill of the performers and their ability to engross you in one of the most long-established Christmas stories. Get dressed up and go to the theater as you are whisked away into a Christmas fairytale and a performance of elegance. The cast rotates depending on the performance day so be sure to check the schedule on their website to make sure your favorite ballerina is plié-ing that evening.

Light up the Night at Pacific Place

As mentioned in the previous article, Pacific Place has a snowfall indoors but outdoors the shopping mall has introduced a new holiday experience. On the side of the building on 6th avenue in downtown Seattle the mall projects a 3D light show for anyone to enjoy. The event is free and is running every evening until December 31.

Holiday Carousel

Presented by IKEA for the charity, Treehouse for Kids, the holiday carousel is becoming a standard holiday stop for the families of Seattle. Located in Westlake Center the carousel will be spinning until January 1st so stop by and enjoy holiday music while you circle around for a good cause.
