A Cup of Joe in the Borough: A Coffee Break in West Chester

A Coffee Break in West Chester

The countdown continues until the big man arrives himself. Tis the season to be jolly, giving, and notoriously stressed about Christmas shopping. As we peruse it is important to take time and treat yourself too. If you are shopping locally in West Chester Pennsylvania, here is a guide to the coffee stops in town to ensure your caffeine level is maintained while shopping at the local businesses for the holidays.

Fenn’s Coffee

A hidden gem, located off the main streets of town, on Church Street is a local coffee shop. The coffee here is delicious but that is not the pull, the staff and the sense of community this place has is extremely inviting. Family owned, this place is anything but corporate, get ready to have the staff know you by name and remember the way you like your cup of joe. Fenn’s is open from 6am to 9pm and offer open mic nights and cover bands as entertainment while you sip. A fantastic local spot where you can recharge with a hot beverage and a welcoming staff.

West Chester Coffee and Ice Cream Bar

The name is pretty self-explanatory in what the café offers. A delicious stop to grab a sweet treat and a hot coffee as the winter approaches. The beauty of this place is that they have rotating ice cream flavors offered by local vendors including vegan options. A common misconception, the Coffee and Ice Cream bar opens just as early as its coffee competitors at 7am so you can actually purchase a cup of ice cream for breakfast. The seating at this location is limited so if it is crowded you may be getting your snack and joe to go.

Country Bagel

A wonderful place for fresh bagels and coffee. The name of this business may be misleading because they have not only freshly baked bagels but an array of desserts that can be very tempting. Do not go here expecting to order an elaborate coffee because their options are limited although they do offer different flavors of hot coffee. A great place for anyone on a budget who needs some carbs and caffeine. Be aware Country Bagel closes at 3pm daily so be sure not to plan to go here for a late lunch.

The Lincoln Room Tea Room

This tea room is a staple of West Chester. In a beautiful historic building come by here to have a classic high tea. Enjoy towers of sandwiches, freshly made in house quiche and unlimited tea flavors. The real sell of the tea room is the Victorian building and the environment this location offers. Decorated to match the era it is to represent the tea room is covered with antiques and paintings of honest Abe himself.  A nice place to unwind and go back in time.
