The Emerald City, the 12th man, the place where Microsoft is from…. Seattle Washington. Located in the furthest northwestern point of the lower 48 states the secret is out about this town. Now that big businesses like Amazon, Google, and Boeing dominate the city’s market the town’s population continues to grow. As the volume of people continues to flourish, the city has definitely delivers in history and beauty throughout its diverse neighborhoods. Here is a breakdown of the different sections of Seattle Washington.

 

Downtown Seattle

Downtown Seattle is the heart of this beautiful city. Located on the waterfront of the Puget Sound, this section of town offers mesmerizing views. Downtown Seattle has the Olympic Mountain range in sight and on a clear day a fantastic view of Mount Rainier. Both these snow-capped mountains are the backdrop for the blue waters of the sound where orcas and seals come out to play. As if that isn’t enough Pike Place Market is located there as well. The market has fresh flowers, fruit and fish as well as hand crafted apparel. The streets continue with museums and amazing cuisine; downtown has so much to do.

Belltown

Located within walking distance of downtown lays Belltown, a residential section of the city accompanied by well-known tourist attractions. The Space Needle, Chihuly museum, Experience Music Project, and the Pacific Science Center are all here. Parts of the year this section of town is turned into festival grounds for events such as Bumbershoot. A wonderful spot to come and walk around and take in the architectural beauty the city has.

SODO

South of Downtown district is where the stadiums stand. You can walk here or take the bus down to this part of town. Here you can see any of the local sports teams at Century Link Field or Safeco field. Both venues offer walking tours so you can experience being on the field yourself. Century Link Field, where the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounds play is an experience; the way the stadium was constructed exuberates sound. Going here for any sporting event is a chance to set another Guinness World record for loudest stadium in the nation.

International District

This festive section of Seattle is in-between downtown Seattle and SODO and offers amazing international cuisine from Asian cultures. The streets are decorated with festive dragons and oriental themed furnishings. A great stop for dim sum and unique shopping. Take a tour around the food market here where you can sample some unusual foods like octopus or frog legs.

Capitol Hill

The best place in town for live music and hipster watching. A great place for the creative soul to experience art, live theater and concerts. A combination of residential and night life the hill is its own community, it stands for equality and is LGBT friendly.
